What is Discover Companies?
Discover Companies allows you to search for new companies to prospect based on their technographics and firmographics - and import them directly into Salesforce as Account records.
Note: Your admin must set up Lightning Data Purchase Assignments in order for you to import records.
Using Discover Companies Search
There are two main ways for searching for companies using Discover Companies; the faceted search located in the right sidebar, and the Search Bar / Advanced search at the top.
Faceted Search
The faceted search in Discover Companies allows you to quickly narrow down the list of companies based on both technographics (what technologies they are using) and firmographics (attributes like number of employees, annual revenue, etc).
Click the checkboxes next to each Filter to narrow down the search.
If multiple selections are chosen within a given filter type, the search will return all companies that match either of the filters.
For example:
If Product A and Product B are selected, the results will show companies using Product A OR Product B.
Search Bar / Advanced Search
The Search Bar allows users to search using a general text search. This will search across all fields and columns.
The Advanced Search allows users to do a text search within a specific column or columns.
The status field will show if the record already exists in your Salesforce Org:
- New: Company not detected in Salesforce
- In Salesforce: Company detected in Salesforce
- In Salesforce Purchased: Company Previously Imported via Discover Companies
Importing Accounts using Discover Companies
Once you have narrowed down the selection of companies, use the + boxes next to each company to select them for import.
You may select up to 25 companies in each import.
When you have selected all the companies you wish to import, click the Import button.
You will now see those companies in your Salesforce org.
Note: To detect which accounts have been imported through Discover Companies report on Accounts where Account Source = HG.
NOTE: If you receive the error below you will need to grant user access to the Account Source field on the Account.
